To use the service, people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing send an instant message to the AIM® Screen Name “SprintIP” to contact a Sprint IP relay operator. The relay operator then places a telephone call to the hearing caller and relays the conversation between the two parties, reading the instant messages out loud to the hearing caller and typing the responses back via instant message to the deaf caller.

The “SprintIP” Screen Name can be added to the Buddy List feature as a permanent buddy, and consumers can initiate Sprint IP Relay calls directly through the AOL® and AIM® services.

How Does AIM® Relay Work:

  • Go to AIM® and send an IM to the screen name “SprintIP” to make a relay call!

  • Save SprintIP in your Buddy list and the next time you make a call, it will be at your fingertips!

  • Type “Español” to connect with a Spanish-language relay operator!

  • Type “Help” to connect to Sprint Relay Customer Service.

  • Easy and convenient! No “GA” needed.

  • Place Sprint IP relay calls with your Blackberry, Treo and Sidekick device or with ANY device that runs AIM®.
